Mixcraft Recording Studio Tip
-----------------------------------------
Every A/V class in school should have a copy of Mixcraft.  It's a great way
to introduce students to the concepts of digital editing and sound
manipulation.

Split A Clip
*************
Split is a way to take a sound and quickly chop it in half.  When I record
narratives for ads or audio plays, I record one 'take' and then go in and
find the best stuff and split the clip up.

1. Click the mouse when your cursor is over the part of the sound you'd like
to split.
2. Right click the sound and select "Split" or Ctrl+T
==> That's it!

Join Clips
***********
Join is a feature that takes a bunch of sound clips and 'butts' them up
together.  One application of this would be to edit out the commercials out
of an audio show.

1. Record an audio show/program
2. Import the sound clip of the show.
3. Find each commercial on the sound and cut it out. (Select the commercial
by left clicking on the bottom of the sound clip and dragging to the end of
the commercial, followed by Ctrl+X or "Cut" from the "Edit" menu)
4. Once all commercials have been removed, right click on the track header
(Near the Vol control) and select "Select All Sounds" (This selects all
sounds on the track.)
5. Now Join them by clicking Ctrl+J or select "Join" from the "Sound" menu.
==> All clips are now joined and will be ad free! (You can now Mix it to
WAV, MP3, OGG, etc)

Tip On Copy & Paste
------------------------------
One of the hidden features in Windows (for beginners) is Copy & Paste.  Most
programs support Copy & Paste and it can be incredibly useful and time
saving.  Here are some practical uses.

Let's say you are creating an email to your friend and you want to move a
paragraph.  The old way would be to delete the paragraph and type it over in
the new location.  With Copy & Paste, click and hold the mouse at the start
of the paragraph and while holding down the mouse button drag/move the mouse
to the end of the paragraph.  (The paragraph's text should look inverted,
which is commonly referred to as 'selected')  Then select "Copy" from the
"Edit" menu or Ctrl+C.  This puts the paragraph in the "Copy & Paste"
buffer/memory holding space.  Now put the cursor where you'd like to move
the paragraph to.  To Paste the paragraph, select "Paste" from the "Edit"
menu or Ctrl+V.  The entire paragraph should now appear!   You can also
paste text to and from different programs.  For example, you can copy text
in your email and paste it into a word processing program.  Or you can copy
a serial/registration code by selecting it and then going to the correct
'edit' box or area and then holding down the Ctrl key and pressing V
(Ctrl+V) to paste it.  Sometimes, you can click the right mouse button down
and a menu will pop up with a Paste option, as well.
