What´s new with Mixcraft 4?

Mixcraft 4 introduces virtual instruments and MIDI sequencing to Mixcraft´s already powerful feature set, enabling users to record, compose, edit, and mix music entirely within the Mixcraft application.

Virtual instrument technology is an exciting new innovation that allows anyone with an inexpensive MIDI controller keyboard to turn their computer into a powerful musical instrument. Instead of purchasing a single synthesizer keyboard containing a limited collection of sounds and costing from US$800 to US$3000 and beyond, your computer can be used as a musical instrument with an infinite palette of sounds. Thousands of software-based instruments, made by hundreds of manufacturers, can be used to create the sounds of pianos, organs, guitars, orchestral instruments, drums, synthesizers, and vintage electronic musical instruments from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Mixcraft 4 includes 1000 new sound effects, a new guitar amp simulator and spectrum analyzer, and a complete studio full of virtual instruments, including our Minimoog™ emulator, our Hammond B3™ organ emulator, our Impulse polyphonic synthesizer, and our state-of-the-art multi-sampled General MIDI library. Mixcraft for the Classroom

If you're a teacher or educator looking to introduce Mixcraft to your students, you should consider "Mixcraft for the Classroom." Zig Waljer and Steve Riddle have teamed up to write "Mixcraft for the Classroom," which consists of a teacher resource book and student workbooks. Keyboard Magazine NAMM Report

In January 2008, Acoustica debuted Mixcraft 4 at the National Association of Music Merchants convention (NAMM). Technical Editor Stephen Fortner of Keyboard Magazine dropped by our booth, and had this to say about Mixcraft 4:

"Frankly, we´re a little embarrassed that Mixcraft hasn´t much been on our radar until now. Version 4 of this Windows-only sequencing and multitrack audio recording app is optimized for Vista and multi-processing, and can import Sony Acid loops. It also comes with a well-rounded arsenal of soft instruments, including a virtual Minimoog and B-3 organ, a virtual analog polysynth, a 250MB quad-strike grand piano sample, and a General MIDI library. We heard all of these at NAMM, and couldn´t believe that you really get everything for 75 bucks. The price and ease of use tempted us to slap the ´Windows answer to GarageBand´ label on it, but that understates its power — with VST instrument and effect hosting and recording at up to 192kHz, Mixcraft is really a sleeping giant that could compete with ´professionally´ priced software."
