Sound tab (Piano Roll)

The Sound tab allows you to rename a sound, change its length, change its time offset, mute it, lock it, change its tempo, pitch shift or key.

hmtoggle_arrow1 Edit Name

 

Change the name of a clip.  Type in a new name and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Mute/Unmute

 

Click the speaker icon to toggle a sound's muted state.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Lock or Unlock

 

Click the lock icon or unlock icon to toggle a sound's locked state.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Offset

 

Change the offset of a sound by entering in minutes, seconds and milliseconds or using the spinner controls.

 

If in "Beats" mode, these edit boxes will be in measure, beats and partial beats.  (1000 partial beats = 1 beat. )

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Length

 

Change the length of a sound by entering in minutes, seconds and milliseconds or using the spinner controls.  (If the sound is made long enough, this will also cause it to loop.)

 

If in "Beat" mode, this edit boxes will be in measure, beats and partial beats.  (1000 partial beats = 1 beat. )

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Time Stretch / Tempo

 

Set the mode of the time stretching for this sound to adjust to the project tempo or to a specific time stretched amount.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Adjusting Pitch, Key or Transposition

 

Set the mode of the pitch shifting for this sound to adjust to the project key or a specific pitch adjustment.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Show / Hide Controls Button

 

Click the [<<] Show/Hide Controls button to see more sound data, instead of the controls.  This will toggle between showing and hiding the controls.  To show the controls again, click the [>>] button.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Zoom (Vertical)

Zoom in vertically.  (Get a closer view of the piano roll notes.)

zoom-out-vertical

Zoom out vertically.  (Helps to view more notes.)

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Editor Type

 

Switch between the Piano Roll and Notation editors.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Key

 

Choose a key and click whether it is major or minor.  The key is used if the sound is set to adjust to the project key.

 

(The major and minor drop down is mainly so that the Notation view displays the correct key signature.)

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Time Signature

 

Edit the time signature of the clip.

 

hmtoggle_arrow1 Drum Map

 

If the clip is a drum kit, you can view it as a drum kit instead of a piano roll.

 

Choose a drum map.
